We resumed our dinner dates after a two week gap (we got busy and ended up spending an extended weekend together to make up for it). It was a bit impromptu but sometimes that's the best. I was feeling something light and not too fussy so we went to La Tasca West India Quay. The last time we went there, we ordered WAY too much, our eyes got the better of us. This time round, we learnt from our lesson and only ordered half the amount - Calamari, Aubergines, Chorizo, Meat Balls, Battered Fish.
The food was good, filling and varied. The Battered fish is the best I think. Service is good. The food arrives quite quickly and there's variety. But the tables are a bit small which can get a bit irritating as there are so many plates on them.
Bar 38 was our next stop. Desserts are a must there. I had a Chocolate Mint warm gateau and W had a Bannoffe treacle thingy bip bop. They were both ……mmmmmmmmmmmm. So good!!
Take a stroll along the quay, walk along the cobbled ground and generally chill.

Time:
Have you actually thought about how much time you actually get to spend with the one you say you want to spend the rest of your life with? Take away time to sleep (zzzzzzzzzz), time getting dressed (for a girl it can be a while), time at work, gym or other extra curricular activity. How much time is left? How much time do you have left in your hands to completely and utterly dedicate to your one true love?
Don’t get me wrong, I'm not saying that we should ditch your friends, but I have learnt that we need to start making smart choices and not just fall onto the conveyer belt of life. We should treasure our friends and our family, make sure you spend quality time with them. They are there to inspire you, support you and give you a different perspective and provide a stimulating environment. But our husbands or wives nurture us, they help us to grow and become the person we hope we can one day be. They develop us, they breath life!
I think that we all need to be a little bit more strategic with the decisions that we make. Listen to your heart because that is where your true happiness and joy lies. And success cannot be measured in monetary terms but is unique to the individual.
Go on, make the extra effort. Give him/her a call. Tell them that you love them, damn sing it to them. Just make sure they know how you feel.

News Bulletin - 10th May 2010
Are we really going to have to deal with a Conservative coalition? After the disappointing results on Friday the country is still as unsure about it's future as it has been for the last 2 months or so. Silly of me to think that elections would be the end of it eh?
As Clegg and Cameron ponder over how they are going to make their differences come together I pray that they will come up with policies that is good for THEIR people. Hopefully we should have some progress by the end of the day, although this apparent instability does not seem to be effecting the economy too much. So why do we need a government again?
Elsewhere in the world:
South African president Zuma has been put into the same category as Sarah Palin with reports saying that he has no real grasp on policies. A consequence of trying to please all - there's a lesson to be learnt there.
There's growing evidence of Kenya's presence on the world tourism market : Another place to visit I think!
The Harrod's conglomerate has been sold by the Al-Fayed family to further increase Qatar's stake in world affairs :

News Bulletin - Elections 2010
As Britain ponders over who will be ruling the country (well at least have some say) tomorrow, Nigeria faces its own leadership dilemmas.
Following a long bout of illness, Nigeria's president Umaru Yar'Adua died Wednesday 5th May 2010. A new president in the form of Goodluck Jonathan has been sworn in and a new government will be formed. Lets hope that he will bring some unity back to this land, Lord knows it's much needed.
For those of us here, make sure you vote!!
"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth of holiness."
1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)

Self Control
Galations 5: 22 "The fruits of the spirit are "Love, Joy, Peace, Faithfulness, Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness and Self Control."
As I passed through the kitchen Saturday morning to get brekkie, I heard Joyce Meyer speak on this topic. It's an interesting one. We all say we have temptations; "it's just too hard", so we give in. Now, I'm talking about the simple things. She used the illustration of a cookie jar. We (or I) tell ourselves that we'll just have the one. We take it, devour it and then reach out for another because it tastes sooo good. Even now as I write this, I'm looking at a bag of Knights Selection Crisps, "Oven Roasted Chicken with Lemon & Thyme". I took a few, closed the bag and still found myself reaching out for more.
Think about it. How can we let such little things overcome us? Look at the size of a cookie, or a crisp, come on now!!

R Reviews: Top of the Town
Saturday night I ventured into China Town with some girlies and Mr W. Simply put, the service was atrocious! Our waiter must have been having a bad day. But as they say don’t take your personal stuff to work. Fortunately, the chef and the nice lil' old man made up for at right at the last minute.

R Reviews: Fish!
We have decided that we need to spend more time together. "Like you don't spend enough already?" I hear you say. Well,... Actually we don't. The early stages of any relationship are the most important. It's when you get to know someone's character, you figure out how you work together and begin to build the foundations for the years ahead.
Each week we pretend we're Michelle and Barack and dress up (well that's me) and head out to town. We treat ourselves to some fine dining and possibly some cocktails, natter, laugh and generally just get all lovey dovey. I love it. I always look forward to it, it's the highlight of my week.
This week we tried out Fish! @ London Bridge. It forms part of the Fish Kitchen Group. I think my expectations we're too high. I hadn't had some good fish in a while so was quite excited by the prospect of going somewhere where all there would be on the menu is… you guessed it! HOWEVER…. We turned up at the restaurant and it was empty. That was our first mistake. But we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. The terrace looked nicely laid out but there were some flies hovering by the heaters so we decided to sit inside. In my opinion, the layout is not one that is date friendly, and the floor is definitely not heels friendly. I found the menu quite restricted, and ended up going for the fish pie which defeated my objective. Mr W's grilled Sea Bream was tasty and so I helped myself as I usually do. Service was good.
In all, I think it's a restaurant that is more conducive to group settings. Somewhere you can drop by to have a quick, light and healthy bite.
